Auburn- Robert P. “Bob” Halpin, 62, died Sunday July 31, 2016 at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester surrounded by his loving family. Bob will be dearly missed by his loving wife Laurie Ann (Chester) Halpin. Bob and Laurie were blessed to have 35 years together, meeting in 1981 and marrying in 1988; Saturday was their 28th wedding anniversary.

Bob was born in Worcester, the son of the late Francis and Evelyn (Gingras) Halpin, and was a 1972 graduate of Burncoat High School. Bob received an Associate Degree from Quinsigamond Community College. He worked for Bose Corporation for 37 years, where his last position before retiring in June of 2015 was in Computer Aided Design. Bob was an avid reader, and despite some physical limitations enjoyed being active; he played tennis and golf, bowled, and travelled extensively, including trips to Alaska and Japan. Bob was a Boy Scout and was inducted into the Order of the Arrow.  He was a life-long Red Sox and Patriots fan, but would watch just about any sporting event on TV. He loved to crack jokes as much as he loved to laugh, and rarely argued with people, but would let you know you were wrong with a simple raise of his eyebrow. Bob’s drink of choice was an ice cold Coke, and if it went with a slice of Papa Gino’s pizza or a hamburger, all the better.

Besides being a wonderful husband to Laurie, Bob was the big brother-est of all big brothers to his three siblings. He leaves a brother, James Halpin and his companion Kathy Anderson of Oxford, his sisters Janet Halpin and her husband Ray Stevens of West Boylston, and Carol Pellerin and her husband David of Auburn, as well as Laurie’s three sisters and their families. Bob was proud to be called “Uncle Bobby” by his thirteen nieces and nephews and eight grand nieces and nephews.

Calling hours are Thursday, August 4, from 5-8pm at O'CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, Worcester. A funeral service will be held Friday, August 5 at 10 am in All Saints Church, 10 Irving Street, Worcester. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bob’s memory to Shriners Hospital for Children, 2900 N. Rocky Point Drive, Tampa FL 33607, www.shrinershospitalsforchildren.org (please designate your gift to the hospital’s Springfield, MA location), or to Massachusetts Special Olympics, 512 Forest St., Marlborough, MA 01572 (specialolypicsma.org). Arrangements are under the direction of the Fitzgerald & Collins Funeral Home, 378 Lincoln Street, Marlborough.
