William R. Bunke

William R. Bunke, 58, of Marlborough and formerly of Melrose died suddenly on Saturday February 6, 2021 at Marlborough Hospital. He was born in New Rochelle, New York, the son of the late Frederick J. Bunke, Sr. and Gertrude (Erlenmaier) Bunke. Bill was a graduate of New Rochelle High School, Class of 1980. He attended Hamilton College in Clinton, NY earning his Bachelor's Degree in Liberal Arts. 

Shortly after graduation, Bill moved to Manhattan Beach, CA where he owned and operated a pool maintenance business for over 15 years. He then returned to the East Coast where he briefly worked in New York City before enrolling and graduating from the histotechnician program at Hartford Hospital. Relocating to Melrose, MA, Bill worked in several pathology labs including Strata Technology Services for the next 15 years.

Bill enjoyed cooking, traveling and fantasy football. He had a great sense of humor and was the life of the party. His many loyal friends will always remember him as a kind and gentle soul with a big heart.

He leaves behind his brother Frederick J. Bunke, Jr. and his wife Janet of Glastonbury, Connecticut; two nieces, Jennifer McDaniel and her husband Christian of Phoenix, AZ and Melanie Mandonas and her husband Nicholas of Charlestown, MA; two grand nieces, Marianna Janet and Luciana Grace; five cousins, Susan DeLuca and Steven D’Andrea both of New York, Karen Lehman, John and Richard Bunke all of Pennsylvania; and his many friends and fraternity brothers that he remained close to over the years.
