Richard Place Obituary

Clinton- Richard "Dicky" P. Place, 69, of Clinton and formerly of Marlborough died Saturday, December 26, 2020 at the home of his daughter.  He was the husband of Debra L. (Aldred) Place who died in 2013. He was born, raised and educated in Marlborough, the son of the late Raymond Place and Rose (Gage) Robideau.  He was a 1969 graduate of Marlborough High School. He obtained his CDL in the late 70s and was a trucker for many years hauling locally and cross country for a variety of trucking companies as well as independently.  He loved being on the road and loved coming home to his family even more. He was an avid racing fan and in his younger years participated in demolition derbies. His prized possession was his 2002 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS Dale Earnhardt/Intimidator Edition. Dicky loved tinkering on cars and was always the first person to call if you were having car trouble. He didn't always know how to fix it, but if he didn't, he always knew someone who did and he was the kind of guy who would drop what he was doing and call in all his friends to help.
He leaves two sons, Kevin P. Place and his partner Katie of Clinton, Keith D. Place and his wife Cassandra of Clinton; a daughter Kimberly A. Steinau and her husband Damion of Clinton; four sisters, Phyllis Bowser of Marlborough, Bette Britton and Sandra Place both of Maine and Brenda Choiniere of Las Vegas; a sister-in-law whom he considered a sister, Rhonda Letteer of Colorado; six grandchildren, Sofia, Kylie, Jeremiah, McKenna, Edmund and Trent. He was the brother to the late William, Pattie and Lanie.
