Obadias Soares,67, died Friday March 13, 2020 at St. Vincent Hospital. He was born, raised and educated in Itapina, Espirito Santo, Brazil, the son of the late Marcionilio and Edimeia (Filgueira) Soares and has lived here in Massachusetts for the past 29 years. He worked at O’Connors Restaurant in Worcester for 29 years. Obadias was an avid soccer player and fan. After a sports injury that prevented him from playing soccer he began referring games. His favorite team was Palmeiras in São Paulo.
He leaves his girlfriend of 24 years, Dulcineia De Souza; three sons, Anderson Soares of Worcester, Helton and Helon Soares both of Sao Paulo; fours daughters Marcilene Cardoso of Worcester, Marilene Soares Santos, Meiriene Carvalho and Marilice Amorin all of São Paulo; three brothers, Odias Soares of Worcester, Ezequias Soares of Espirito Santo and Ozias Soares of Rio de Janeiro; a sister Ozenir Oliveira of Minas Gerais; six grandsons and four granddaughters.
A private funeral service will be held Tuesday March 17 in Assembleia De Deus, 91 Canterbury Street, Worcester. Burial will follow at 11:45 a.m. in Evergreen Cemetery, Wilson Street, Marlborough. Calling hours will be held Monday from 6-8 p.m. in the Collins Funeral Home(www.CollinsFuneral.com), 378 Lincoln Street, Marlborough.
