Ms Butler was an inspiring and nurturing teacher who was enormously enthusiastic and encouraging to me as a 7th and 8th grader. Her elective creative writing classes (1977-78) were a giant door opening for me and inspired a lifelong interest in writing. I wish I'd been able to thank her a long time ago.

Julia, Carl,John, Don and Robert :   3 months ago I  sent Linda a picture from the park near our Tokyo Apartment of the  Mormon Temple topped by an Angel on a crisp spring day .  I didn't get any answer ,so I feared that her disease had worsened . Sunday while sitting in church and looking at the lineup of the hymns , I recalled her  ministry and wonderful history of word and music . So I sent another text and email...again not hearing back I checked and and learned she had died .  I am so  sorry . The  obituary you have written captures her zest for life and her ever living soul. We will all miss her and we are all better for having been in her orbit, however fleeting or long lasting it was . Please  accept my  condolences and extend them to your families .  Sent  with love for her and for you all .  Randy

Very few people over 50 decide that gymnastics on the back of a cantering horse would be an appropriate new endeavor. But Linda did and she brought with it the same joy and enthusiasm that she brought to everything equine related. It was quite some time before she finally relented and allowed Julia to vault and how lucky we all were to have Julia who from the moment she started vaulted out of pure joy just like her mother. Julia I think of you often and wish you all the best....

A passionate educator who loved learning and teaching, Linda cared deeply about her students.  She taught writing and I taught math at WMS, and to my surprise we enjoyed some wonderful conversations about mathematical ideas and how to convey concepts to young adolescents.  I always appreciated her honest opinions and thoughts; she was never hypocritical.  My sincere condolences to Julia, Jim and her brothers.  This good soul will be missed.

Linda was a very special lady she would make the rounds with our Vet Dr Smith and she was a joy to get to know over the years. Linda will be greatly missed.

Linda was, first, a wonderful person - full of caring for children as well as adults. Ever cheerful, she brought out the best, even in a student who had made an unfortunate behavioral choice. Inspiring teacher and inspiring colleague is how we'll remember Linda.
