Jose Gabriel Torres Calle

Nacido en Itagüí, Medellín, Colombia, el niño activo y estudioso Gabriel, se graduó del Servicio Nacional de Aprendizaje (SENA) y luego a los 22 años de edad se fue a los Estados Unidos donde hizo su carrera de mecanico industrial. Fue ahí en Boston que conoció al amor de su vida, Blanca Inés de Bogotá, Colombia. Casados 50 años, hicieron v hogar en Jamaica Plain. Siempre con una pasión para la vida y su familia, a Gabriel lo energizaba la naturaleza y jugar con sus hijos y luego sus nietos. Él disfrutaba del fútbol, trotar, nadar, proyectos de construcción en la casa, y hasta aprendió a gozar de las nevadas de Nueva Inglaterra.
Gabriel es sobrevivido por su esposa Blanca Inés, sus hijos Luz-Dary (Barlow), Robert Gabriel (Lopes), Nadia Sameth, Gabriel Efrain y Alan José; sus nietos Anysia, Aaron, Mila, Gabriel, Valencia, Julian, Thalia, Lareina, Yocianna, Darwin; sus bisnietas Victoria y Juliana; sus hermanas Sylvia Torres de Vélez y Luz Alba Martinez, sobrinos y primos queridos en los Estados Unidos y en Colombia. Él se reúne en la eternidad con sus padres Efrain Torres y Martalina Calle, su hermano Apolinar Torres y hermana Oliva Torres de Madrid.

Born in Itagüi/Medellin, Colombia, the active and studious boy Gabriel, graduated from Servicio Nacional de Aprendizaje (SENA National Training Service) and went on to become an industrial machinist in the United States at the age of 22. It was there in Boston where he met the love of life, Blanca Ines of Bogotá, Colombia. Married for 50 years, they established their home in Jamaica Plain. Always having a passion for life and family, Gabriel was energized by the outdoors, playing with his children and later his grandchildren. He enjoyed soccer, jogging, swimming, hands-on home improvement projects and even grew to enjoy the New England snowfalls. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Jamaica Plain.
Gabriel is survived by his wife Blanca Ines, children Luz-Dary (Barlow), Robert Gabriel (Lopes), Nadia Sameth, Gabriel Efrain and Alan José; grandchildren Anysia, Aaron, Mila, Gabriel, Valencia, Julian, Thalia, Lareina, Yocianna, Darwin; great grandchildren Victoria, Juliana; His sisters, Luz Alba Martinez and Sylvia Torres de Velez and beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins in the US and Colombia. He was predeceased by his parents Efrain Torres and Martalina Calle, brother Apolinar and sister Oliva.
