Marlborough- John F. Mazza, 60, of Marlborough died Friday July 9, 2021 at UMASS Memorial Medical Center in Worcester after a brief illness. He was the husband of Cathy (Bonin) Mazza who died in 2009. He was born in New Haven, Connecticut the son of the late Peter F. and Jane E. (Clancy) Mazza and was raised in Hudson. He was a 1979 graduate of Hudson High School and was class President. He attended Framingham State College. John owned and operated JCT Landscaping in Marlborough from 1999 until his retirement in 2014. He was also a camp counselor and bus driver for “Sunshine Camp” in Hudson. In his younger years he worked at the Souvenir Pub, Coachlight and the Oxford. He was a member and President of Marlboro Lions Clubs and a former member of the Marlborough Regional Chamber of Commerce. He enjoyed riding his Harley, boating and was an avid “collector of things” from antique toys to taxidermy and many other things. John will be remembered for his kindness, generosity,compassion and for being selfless. No matter what life threw his way, he never let it get him down or beat him, even surviving a lightning strike years ago. He had an incredible zest for life.
He leaves his daughter Tori Lynn Baum and her husband Jordan of Windsor, VA; two brothers Peter J. Mazza and his wife Jackie of Hudson and Robert F. Mazza and his wife Bonnie of Lehigh, FL; a sister Tina M. Betley and her husband Michael of Franconia, NH; a step-daughter Dawn Hanna of Marlborough; two grandchildren, Brooke and Mason Baum of Windsor, VA; five nephews and nieces, Marisa, Peter, Tina, Jason and Jessica; several grand nephews and nieces.
A funeral service will be held Saturday July 24 at 3:00 PM in the Hudson Seventh Day Adventist Church, 94 Marlboro Street, Hudson. Burial will be private. Calling hours will be held Friday July 23 from 4-7 PM in the Collins Funeral Home, 378 Lincoln Street, Marlborough.
