Harry Monroe Obituary

Hudson- Harry N. Monroe, 91, of Hudson, passed way Tuesday, September 27, 2022, in the comfort of his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Berlin, the son of the late Edgar W. and Ada A. (Ellison) Munroe, and raised and educated in Hudson. Harry proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He worked for the Hudson Department of Public Works for over forty years, retiring many years ago. Before his employment with the DPW, he worked at Victory Plastics for several years. He was a member and active volunteer of the First Federated Church in Hudson. He enjoyed woodworking, radio talk shows, and keeping up with current affairs. Harry was a quiet man that savored his privacy. 

He was predeceased by six siblings Johnny Munroe, Albert Munroe, Hazel Munroe, Alma Headberg, Sally Tripp and Ethel Gorman. He leaves his two sons, Harry W. Monroe and his wife Flor of Marlborough MA, Michael of Easton ME, two daughters, Heidi Kaski and her husband Keith of Centerville MA, and Deanna Monroe of Concord, NH; seven grandsons, Mark A, Cody, Donald, Michael, and Nicholas Monroe, Darien and Ryan Kaski; three granddaughters; Heather and Caitlin Monroe, and Julia Kirrane; eight great-grandchildren, Mark J. Monroe, Arianna M. Monroe, Ryan M. Monroe, Lilly Chico, and Michael’s four grandchildren, and many nephews, nieces, and cousins.

During the latter part of his life, he enjoyed the company of his great-grandchildren Mark J, Arianna, and Ryan, telling them stories of his life. He was lovingly cared for by his son Harry Monroe, his granddaughter-in-law Wendy Monroe, and her mother Sonia Hernandez.

A funeral service will be held Monday, October 3, at 10 AM in the Collins Funeral Home, 378 Lincoln Street, Marlborough. Burial with Military Honors will follow in South Cemetery, Berlin. Calling hours will be held in the funeral home Sunday, October Two from 11 AM - 1 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in Harry’s memory may be made to the First Federated Church, 200 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749. All are invited to sign Harry’s guest book at
