Waltham- Gladys M. Bonilla Blanco, 90, of Waltham died peacefully at home surrounded by family on Thursday June 24, 2021 She was the wife of the late Catalino Torres Leon who died in 1971. She was born, raised and educated in Orocovis, Puerto Rico, the daughter of Anselmo Bonilla and Valentina Blanco and moved to Massachusetts in 1979. She was the Matriarch of the Torres Family, where she oversaw the growth of 5 generations. She was an avid parishioner member of St. Mary's Church in Waltham. She loved cooking and family gatherings. She was loving, sweet, kind hearted, generous, a patient woman, she was known as Waltham’s Grandmother” by many of her children’s and great-grandchildren’s friends. She loved to play Bingo, and her favorite flowers were Orchids. She always liked to look her best.
She leaves behind four sons, Deacon Pedro Torres of Marlborough, Romualdo and Gerardo Torres both of Puerto Rico and Juan M. Torres of Marlborough; eight daughters, Ana Alvarez, Sandra Torres and Carmen Vega all of Waltham, Gladys Colon of Framingham, Henix Torres of Puerto Rico, Martita Torres of Florida, Myrna Rodgers of Marlborough and Olga Torres-Martinez of Hudson; a brother Cruz M. Colon of New Jersey; two sisters Felicita Bonilla and Evelia Colon both of Puerto Rico; forty grandchildren; forty-three great grandchildren; fourteen great great grandchildren; many nephews and nieces and cousins. She was the mother of the late Abigail Torres of Waltham and the sister of the late Luis Bonilla Blanco of Puerto Rico and Helida Bonilla Santiago of New Jersey.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated Monday June 28 at 11:00 AM in Immaculate Conception Church, Prospect Street, Marlborough. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Wilson Street, Marlborough. Calling hours will be held Sunday from 3-6 PM in the Collins Funeral Home, 378 Lincoln Street, Marlborough.
