Marlborough- Carol A. (Mehigan) Portanova, 76, of Marlborough died Friday December 21, 2018 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of James M. Portanova for the past 57 years. She was born in Somerville, the daughter of the late John and Helen (Donovan) Mehigan and was educated in Boston. She was a CNA for the Sisters of the Good Shepherd from 1988- 2007. Carol enjoyed knitting, crafts, crosswords and Bingo. She was devoted to her family and loved family vacations at Hampton Beach. She was an outgoing and caring woman, the glue that kept her family together.
In addition to her husband Jim she leaves a son, James M. Portanova of Pembroke; three daughters, Nancy C. Murphy of Marlborough, Helen M. Hafford and husband Michael of Berlin and Dawn M. Portanova of Dorchester; a brother David Mehigan of California; two sisters, Eleanor Fiske of Hingham and Noreen Allison of Brewster; ten grandchildren; three great grandchildren; many nephews, nieces and cousins. She was predeceased by her son Anthony Portanova, grandson Corey J. Hafford and her brother Joseph Mehigan.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday December 28 at 10 a.m. in St. Matthias Church, Hemenway Street. Calling hours will be held Thursday December 27 from 5-8 p.m. in the Fitzgerald & Collins Funeral Home (www.CollinsFuneral.com), 378 Lincoln Street.
