Concord- William M. Neal, Jr., of Concord, MA died July 12, 2006 at his home. He leaves five children, Catherine N. McNulty of Concord, Michael R. Neal of San Francisco, CA, Brett Neal of Acton, Sarah N. Picot of Davidson, NC and Christine N. Shearin of Tampa, FL; two sisters, Mrs. L. Sykes Martin (D.D. Martin) of Courtland, AL and Mrs. Bond Almand, Jr., (Virginia Almand) of Atlanta, GA and ten grandchildren. He was born in Birmingham, Alabama the son of the late William M. and Flora T. (Brown) Neal and was a veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Neal was a graduate of The Kent School, in Kent, Connecticut, and the University of Alabama. In June, 1959, he married Linda Koch and resided in Florida, where they raised their five children. He was. a lifelong reader and collector of books on a wide variety of subjects, including history, food and wine, and sports, Mr. Neal also studied several languages and earned his pilot's license. During his childhood and early adulthood he lived abroad at various times, in Spain, France, and Austria, and traveled widely. He worked in several industries over the years, including farming, computers, and restaurants. Mr. Neal was a generous man who delighted in finding just the right book or other gift for family and friends, and even casual acquaintances. Funeral services will be private. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.
