The funeral arrangements for William C. Arcudi, scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 12 and Thursday, Jan. 13, have been changed because of the impending snow storm. Instead, a graveside service with military honors will take place Friday, Jan. 14 at 10 a.m., in Rural Cemetery, Southborough. Calling hours will now be held Thursday, Jan. 13, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., at the Fitzgerald & Collins Funeral Home (www.CollinsFuneral.com), 378 Lincoln Street, Marlborough.
MARLBOROUGH - William "Bill" C. Arcudi, 90, of Marlborough passed away Saturday, Jan. 8, 2011, at home with his family by his side. He was the loving husband of Helen (McHatton) Arcudi, his wife of 40 years, who died in 1985. Born in Milford and raised and educated in Framingham, he was the son of the late Francesco and Sarah (Sebastian) Arcudi.
Bill was a proud U.S. Navy veteran who served in WWII. He worked as a design draftsman at LaPointe, Dynamac, and Jamesbury. His hobbies included oil painting, woodworking, and bowling. He had a lifelong love of aviation and followed the NASA program intently. He loved to fix things and was the consummate handyman. For many years, Bill enjoyed the Bellingham Senior Center and all the wonderful activities and friends he had there. He also enjoyed the fellowship of the Arnold Mills United Methodist Church in Cumberland, R.I.
He leaves his children, Diane Burke of El Paso, Texas and Bill Arcudi of Laguna Niguel, Calif.; his grandson, David Nava of Las Vegas, Nev.; and his sisters, Rita Aseltine of Marlborough, Betty Parsneau of Mt. Airy, N.C., and Ruth Parmenter of Framingham. Since the passing of his wife, Bill had two close and loving companions, Carol Bond of Bellingham from 2004 to present, and Millie Gorman of Bellingham from 1987 until her death in 2004. He was the brother of the late Frank Arcudi of Beverly Hills, Fla. Bill also leaves behind many extended family members, friends, neighbors, and a special four-legged friend named Bentley, all of whom loved him dearly.
A graveside service with military honors will be held Friday, Jan.14 at 10 a.m., in Rural Cemetery, Southborough. Calling hours will be held Thursday, Jan. 13, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., at the Fitzgerald & Collins Funeral Home (www.CollinsFuneral.com), 378 Lincoln Street, Marlborough. Instead of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Bellingham Senior Center, 40 Blackstone Street, Bellingham, MA 02019; UMass Memorial Hospice, 650 Lincoln Street, Worcester, MA 01605; or to your favorite charity.
