Walter H. Salvatierra, a devoted father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 29, 2026, at Marlborough Hospital. Born on February 7, 1957, in Zacapa, Guatemala, Walter lived a life marked by resilience, kindness, and unwavering support for those around him. He courageously battled the aftermath of cancer for 11 years, facing each day with the strength and spirit of a true warrior.
Walter’s journey began in his hometown of Zacapa, where he graduated from Zacapa High School in 1974. Following his education, he dedicated much of his life to his passion as a self-employed auto mechanic, working tirelessly in his own shop in Marlborough. His commitment to his craft earned him the respect of many in the community and stood as a testament to his hard work and determination.
Known for his great sense of humor, Walter was a man who brought joy and comfort to many. His warmth and care left a lasting impact on everyone he met. Beyond his work and family life, Walter had a unique pastime of watching farming videos on YouTube, and he was an ardent soccer fan, finding happiness and relaxation in the sport he loved.
Walter is survived by his son, Walter H. Salvatierra, Jr., and his two daughters, Karla Salvatierra of Marlborough, and Sindy Archila along with her husband Erwin of Dalton, Georgia. He was a cherished grandfather to five grandchildren: Allyson, Joshua, Kailey, Karla, and Tony. His siblings include his brother Byron Salvatierra of Guatemala, and three sisters – Sandra Salvatierra of Marlborough, and Reyna and Yolanda Salvatierra, both residing in Guatemala. Walter also leaves behind many nephews, nieces, and cousins, who will remember him fondly and carry forward his legacy of kindness and humor.
Walter was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Romy (Alvarez Solis) Salvatierra, who passed away in 2021, as well as his parents, Humberto Salvatierra and Teresa De Jesus Arriaza.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday June 6, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Collins Funeral Home, located at 378 Lincoln Street, Marlborough, Massachusetts, 01752.
Walter’s memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who knew him. His generous spirit, and loving nature will be deeply missed but never forgotten. May he rest in peace.
