MARLBOROUGH - Vicenta (Vicky) Garcia, 82, of Marlborough and formerly of Minotola, N.J., died Sunday, May 24, 2009, at Sudbury Pines Extended Care. She was born in Comerio, Puerto Rico, the daughter of the late Sixto and Baldomera (Vazquez) Garcia, and moved to New York City in 1955, New Jersey in 1989 and Marlborough in 2001, where she made her home with her son, Joe. Vicky worked in the housekeeping department of the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City for 18 years and retired in 1989. She was a member of the Marlborough Seniors, enjoyed singing, cooking, listening to Latin music, dancing, movie classics, and her cats. She leaves her son, Joseph A. Rodriguez, and his wife, Paivi, of Marlborough; a daughter, Sonia M. Vasquez and her husband, Joseph, of Minotola; a sister, Ana Gloria Rodriguez of Bridgeport, Conn.; three granddaughters, Melissa and Rebecca Vasquez, both of Minotola, and Clarissa Rodriguez of Marlborough; and many nephews, nieces and cousins.
Funeral services and burial will be private following cremation. Instead of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer's Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Avenue, 7th Floor, New York, NY 10001.
