IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Thomas J.
Davis
February 9, 1957 – July 4, 2024
Thomas J. Davis, 67, of Marlborough died suddenly Thursday July 4, 2024 at his home. He was the husband of Virginia M. Harvey for the past 32 years.
He was born in Grand Island, Nebraska the son of Bruce and Annette (Stopkotte) Davis and was a graduate of Centura High School in Dannebrog, Nebraska Class of 1975. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Manufacturing from the University of Nebraska Omaha, an MBA in Business, Management Information Systems from Northern Arizona University and a Masters of Management in International Corporate Finance from the University of Dallas. Tom worked as a Program Manager for Industrial Defender in Foxborough for the last nine years. He previously worked as a Program Manager for Raytheon in Marlborough, Massachusetts and Texas Instruments in Dallas, Texas for many years.
Growing up in Nebraska, Tom was a proud Angus beef farmer, dedicating long hours to the family farm. He was a big Nebraska Cornhuskers football fan, a passion that he enjoyed throughout his life. Tom's love for farming extended to his own garden and yard, and he was always willing to help his neighbors, from yard work to repairing virtually anything.
Tom was also a NASCAR fan and enjoyed attending several races at Bristol, Tennessee, with his friends. Known for his tremendous sense of humor, Tom was funny, sarcastic, well-rounded, and industrious. He was a truly brilliant man with a never-ending thirst for knowledge. One Christmas the family bought Tom a book, "How Things Work" and attempted to quiz him on how many different machines and mechanics function. Tom was proud to know the inner workings of every single thing he was quizzed on, much to his family's disbelief.
As a wonderful father to his daughter Carol and son Nicky, Tom loved taking Nicky to new places and sharing adventures with him. Nick and Tom regularly enjoyed taking their RV camping, going to movies, and frequenting the carnival. Tom and Carol enjoyed doing projects together, discussing TV shows, such as their recent love Clarkson's Farm, and playing trivia games together.
He leaves his wife Virginia M. "Ginny" Harvey of Marlborough; a son Nicholas J. "Nicky" Davis of Marlborough; a daughter Carol Anne Davis and her husband Kyle J. "KJ" Parent of Knoxville, Tennessee; his mother Annette (Stopkotte) Davis of Grand Island, Nebraska; father-in-law Gerry Harvey of Marlborough; three sisters, Cathy Cure and Pam Andersen both of Grand Island, Nebraska and Pat Davis of Alexandria, Virginia; and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held Wednesday July 10 from 6-8 PM in the Collins Funeral Home, 378 Lincoln Street, Marlborough. A private funeral service and celebration of life will be held in Grand Island, Nebraska at a later date. All are invited to sign Tom's online guestbook at collinsfuneral.com. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to Nick's residential and day program, Amego Inc in Attleboro, Massachusetts.
