NATICK- Theodore A. "Ted" Newman, 66, of Natick, died Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2007, at Leonard Morse Hospital, after a long illness. Born in Medford, he was the son of the late Douglas T. and Lynthel (Butler) Newman and was educated in Natick. He owned and operated Ted Newman Painting Contracting for more than 20 years. He had a strong faith in Jesus Christ and attended the Natick Baptist Church. As a young man, he was an amateur boxer, training in Brockton and boxing at the Four Seasons Arena in Walpole, fighting under the name of "Tedore." He was an avid runner, proudly running the Boston Marathon three times. He leaves three sons, Ted W. Newman of Northborough, Kristen Ellis of Middleborough and Randy Newman of Massachusetts; a daughter, Sheila May Blouin of Stoneham; six brothers, Douglas S. Newman of North Carolina, George R. Newman of Shrewsbury, Harvey Newman of Conway, N.H., Taylor Newman of Needham, Henry Newman of Arizona, and Stephen P. Newman of Framingham; six sisters, Virginia Mayo of Natick, Joan Whetton of North Conway, N.H., Eleanor Mattingly of Bellingham, Dorothy Newman of Pensacola, Fla., Barbara L. Munroe of Framingham, and Carol R. Ogle of Bellingham; four grandchildren, Sarah and Ben Newman of Northborough, Vicki Wiltanger of Keene, N.H., and Erycka Mazzi of Arizona; his dear friend, Beverly Hedderig of Natick; and his former wife, Joan (Alexander) Casell of Arizona. He was the brother of the late John R. Newman. A funeral service will be held Saturday, Dec. 29, at 10 a.m. at the Lincoln Chapel of the Fitzgerald & Collins Funeral Home (www.sfcfh.com), 378 Lincoln St., Marlborough. Burial will follow in Dell Park Cemetery, Natick. Instead of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701; or the Natick Baptist Church, 247 West Central St., Natick, MA 01760.
