MARLBOROUGH - Theodora D. "Teddi" Stevens, 81, of Marlborough died unexpectedly Wednesday evening, Nov. 17, 2010, at Marlborough Hospital. She was born in Marlborough, the daughter of the late John and Marianthi (Mullo) Stevens, and was a graduate of Marlborough High School, Class of 1946. Teddi retired as registrar from the City of Marlborough's Water Department in 1990. She previously worked in the city's Veterans Office for 10 years, the State Department of Public Welfare and in the security office of Raytheon in Waltham for many years. She was member of the State, Municipal and County Retired Employees Association, and enjoyed ballroom dancing, spending time at her summer home in Falmouth, the music of Frank Sinatra and big bands. She was a member of two twelve step programs for 36 years. She also was one of the members of "The Golden Girls," along with Ruthie Marlowe, Jeanne Frullo, and the late Lillian Hinckley, who passed away two weeks ago. She leaves a brother, Thomas F. Stevens and his wife, Marie, of Hopedale and a sister, Tefta Stevens of Palm Springs, Calif.; eight nephews and nieces, John Stevens of Milford, Joseph Stevens of Cape Elizabeth, Maine, Lori Stevens of Hopedale, Sylvia Jarras of Shrewsbury, and Loretta Hentrize, Cynthia Drelinger, Vivian Buduski and Kathy Checkani, all of Worcester; and her close friends, Ruthie Marlowe, Jeanne Frullo and Kristin Cullinaine, all of Marlborough. She was predeceased by her brother George Checkani and sister Vasillica Jarras.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, Nov. 20, at noon in the Lincoln Chapel of the Fitzgerald & Collins Funeral Home (www.CollinsFuneral.com), 378 Lincoln Street, Marlborough. Calling hours will be held prior to the service, from 10 a.m. until noon. Following cremation, burial will be held in Maplewood Cemetery.
