Correia
January 15, 1952 – January 14, 2014
Steven Anthony Correia died on January 14, 2014 at Crawford Nursing Home, Fall River, after a long illness. He was 61 years of age.
Steven was born in Taunton, on January 15, 1952, the son of Anthony and Lydia M. (Devolle) Correia.
Steven graduated from John F. Kennedy High School in La Palma, CA and spent many years working in the produce business. After coming East in the 1980's, Steven worked for the Benedictine monks in Conyers, GA as a cook and it was there that he discovered his love of nature and his talent for gardening.
Eventually Steven moved to Taunton and was employed as a Sexton at St. Ann's Parish in Raynham. For 12 years, Steven worked tirelessly for the parish and his greatest gift was keeping the flowers, gardens, shrines and grounds creatively beautiful. The parishioners of St. Ann's will always remember Steven's dedication to the parish.
Steven is survived by his brother Anthony Correia and his wife Karin of Placentia, CA, his stepmother Ruth Correia of Orange, CA, his stepsister Mrs. Alyce Watanabe and her husband Herbert of Orange, CA, his aunts, Mary L. Smith of San Marcos, CA, Sister Elizabeth Correia, RGS of Marlborough, Doris Stevens and her husband Peter of Taunton, and several cousins.
His funeral Mass and Burial will be private. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Fitzgerald & Collins Funeral Home, 378 Lincoln Street, Marlborough.
