Norwood- M. Stella (Ferland) Sheehan, 95, of Norwood died Monday December 17, 2007 in Charlwell House, Norwood. She was the wife of the late John J. Sheehan who died in 1981. She was born in Millenocket, Maine, and was welcomed into a large family, the youngest of fifteen children, by her loving parents, George L. and Petronelle (Nadeau) Ferland. At the age of seven, the family moved to Norwood, where she was raised, educated, and was a graduate of Norwood High School Class of 1932. Stella was a happy homemaker and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great great-grandmother, her grandchildren lovingly recall her always singing, "I love you a bushel and a peck, a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck," when they were young. Always willing to lend a helping hand to family, friends and neighbors, she had been a caregiver to her dear neighbor for 9 years. She was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Church and its Ladies Sodality, and was an avid Red Sox fan, living to see the Red Sox win six out their seven World Series Championships. She was an avid scrabble player that never seemed to lose, seemingly having memorized every word in the official Scrabble dictionary. Her family will forever remember going to Nana's house on Sundays to enjoy a wonderful dinner and the best homemade apple pie ever made. She will be remembered by her family as the most loving and religious woman God could have blessed them with. She is survived by her two daughters, Theresa A. (Collins) Holland of Marlborough and Mary M. Landry- Dicesare, and her husband, John of Norwood; 18 grandchildren; many great grandchildren and great- great grandchildren; nephews, nieces and cousins.
