MARLBOROUGH- Sister Mary Felicia Moore, RGS (Virginia Agnes Moore) died at Good Shepherd Center on August 31, 2013 after a brief illness.  She was 90 years of age and had been a Sister of the Good Shepherd for 67 years. Sister Mary Felicia was born in Flushing, NY in 1923, the daughter of Patrick William and Blanche Marie (Staub) Moore.

Sister Felicia graduated from St. Agnes Academy High School in Flushing, NY.  In 1946 Sister entered the Novitiate of the Sisters of the Good Shepherd in Peekskill, NY, where she began her formal training in the mission of the Good Shepherd Sisters, serving girls and women in need of care and education.  Sister Felicia made her first profession of vows in 1949 and her final profession in 1952. Sister Felicia attended Seton Hall University in South Orange, NJ where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Studies.

Sister was a woman with many talents and gifts and, for over forty years, she generously shared her talents in Good Shepherd residential programs as a dedicated teacher and childcare supervisor in Peekskill, NY, Wickatunk, NJ, Brooklyn, NY, Dix Hills, NY, and Marlborough, MA.  Sister kept in touch with many of her former students over the years, and she was always available to them for an encouraging word, a listening ear, and a promise of prayer.  In 1988 Sister Felicia enrolled in a Clinical Pastoral Education Program at Good Samaritan Hospital in West Islip, NY and from 1988 to 2002, Sister served as Catholic Chaplain at Good Samaritan Hospital where she was known and loved by both staff and patients.

Sister Felicia was missioned to Good Shepherd Center in Marlborough, MA in 2008.  Sister made many new friends here and she continued to use her chaplaincy skills with great care and devotion, ministering to the residents of New Horizons at Madonna Hall and Robbie's Place. Sister Mary Felicia is survived by her brother, Reverend Donald Moore, S.J.  Sister is predeceased by her sisters, Sister Catherine, OSU and Sister Louise, O.P., and her brothers C. Melvin, Patrick, Edward, Reverend Anthony, OFM and Reverend Robert A., a diocesan priest.  She also leaves many nieces and nephews and their families.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered for Sister Mary Felicia at 10 a.m. on September 5, 2013 in the Good Shepherd Center Chapel.  Burial will follow in Mount Benedict Cemetery, West Roxbury. Visiting hours will be on September 4, 2013 from 4-8 with a Prayer Service at 7 p.m.  Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Fitzgerald & Collins Funeral Home (www.CollinsFuneral.com), 378 Lincoln Street, Marlborough.  Expressions of sympathy in memory of Sister Felicia may be made to the Good Shepherd Retirement Fund, 406 Hemenway Street, Marlborough, MA 01752.

The Sisters of the Good Shepherd, a world-wide congregation, was founded in France by St. Mary Euphrasia Pelletier in 1835, in Boston in 1867, in Marlborough in 1964 and in Harwichport in 1993.
