Obituary

MARLBOROUGH - Sister Corrine (Presentation) Villeneuve, RGS, of Sisters of the Good Shepherd, Contemplative Community died Monday, April 5, 2010 at St. Patrick's Manor in Framingham after a short illness. She was 89 years of age and had been a Sister of the Good Shepherd for 70 years.
A native of Buffalo, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Henry and Cora Marion (Thayer) Villeneuve. In 1939, Sister entered the Sisters of the Good Shepherd, Contemplative Community in Providence, R.I., a community with a lifestyle where the Sisters spent hours daily in prayer and activities suited to the cloistered life. She professed her First Vows in 1942. Sister Corrine was known in religious life as Sister Presentation. Her ministries were varied. She was a seamstress making the Sisters' habits, worked in the Altar Bread Department, and was a Community Superior in Dix Hills, N.Y. for several years. Sister Corrine was missioned to Marlborough in 2004 for the purpose of Pastoral Ministry to the Sisters. She was a very loving person to all those she met and with whom she lived. Born with a great sense of humor she was able to make light of any grim situation. Sister Corrine was fun loving and had a special kindness for children, always with a treat in hand. She was also very fond of dogs and cats, with one special "Puppy" while at Good Shepherd Center.
Sister Corrine is survived by a sister, Mrs. Louise Kilpeck, and nieces, Mrs. Mary Louise Penedo and Corrine Kilpeck, all of Cranston, R.I.; several cousins; and many friends.
Visiting hours at Good Shepherd Center, 406 Hemenway Street, Marlborough will be held Thursday, April 8, from 4 to 8 p.m., with a prayer service at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will take place Friday, April 9, at 10 a.m., celebrated by Fr. Robert Rivard at Good Shepherd Center Chapel in Marlborough, followed immediately by interment in Mt. Benedict Cemetery in West Roxbury. Expressions of sympathy in Sister Corrine Villeneuve's memory may be made to Good Shepherd Center Retirement Fund, 406 Hemenway Street, Marlborough, MA 01752. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Collins Funeral Home(www.CollinsFuneral.com), 378 Lincoln Street, Marlborough.
