MARLBOROUGH–Sister Cecile St. Germain, a Sister of St. Anne, known in religion as Sister Mary Claire Cecilia, died at the age of 91, at Marlborough Hospital, in this city, on November 9. She was in the 66th year of religious life. She was the daughter of Alfred and Melanise (Houle) St. Germain of Manville, RI. She completed her elementary and junior high education at St. James School in that city. In 1938, Sister entered the novitiate of the Sisters of St. Anne in Lachine, Quebec, and pronounced her religious vows in 1940. In the same year she returned to the United States to begin her ministry as Hostess and Manager of the Food Department at St. Anne Academy, Marlborough. She also worked at Holy Name of Jesus School in Worcester before accepting an assignment to the mission fields of Alaska and British Columbia, Canada. Upon her return from the Western missions in 1961, she resumed her previous position at St. Anne Academy in Marlborough until her transfer to St. Anne Convent in 1983. There she served as an aide in the Infirmary until failing health obliged her to retire from active service. She is survived by her nieces, Germaine Menard, Cecile St. Germain, Marguerite Lanian, Claudette Menard, and a grand niece, Claudette, all of RI. She will be waked at St. Anne Convent, 720 Boston Post Road, Marlborough, on Monday, November 13, 2006, from 2 to 4:30 p.m., with a prayer service at 4:30 p.m. The funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 14, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. in the Convent chapel with burial in Saint Mary's Cemetery, Marlborough.
