Obituary

Marlborough- Sister Margaret Annunciata Rosa died on September 12, 2021 at Bethany Health Care Center, Framingham, MA after a brief illness.  Sister was  97  years of age and had been a Contemplative Sister of the Good Shepherd for  79 years.

Sister Margaret Annunciata was born in Jamestown, RI in 1924, the daughter of Joseph and Mary Glory (Freda) Rosa.

Ater graduating from school, Sister Margaret Annunciata entered the Contemplative Sisters of the Good Shepherd in Providence, RI in 1942.  Sister made her first religious profession in 1944 and pronounced her final vows in 1954.

Sister was an excellent seamstress and worked for 13 years in the sewing department in the Contemplative community, Providence, RI.

In 1955 Sister Margaret was missioned to the Contemplative community in Brooklyn, NY where she served in the altar bread department.  In 1963 Sister was missioned to Dix Hills, NY where she continued her ministry of baking altar breads.  Sister Margaret was a prayerful and compassionate member of the community always giving her best to whatever she did.

Due to failing health, Sister was missioned to the community at Good Shepherd Center in Marlborough, MA in 2008 where she continued her ministry of prayer.  In 2012 Sister was transferred to Bethany Health Care Center in Framingham, MA.

Sister is survived by nieces and nephews, many cousins and several devoted friends.

A graveside service will be held at  Mt. Benedict Cemetery in West Roxbury, MA on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at 11 AM. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Collins Funeral Home, 378 Lincoln Street, Marlborough.  www.collinsfuneral.com  Expressions of sympathy in Sister memory may be made to the Good Shepherd Retirement Fund, 420 Hemenway Street, Apt. 466, Marlborough, MA 01752.

The Sisters of the Good shepherd were founded by St. Mary Euphrasia Pelletier in Angers, France in 1835, in the United States (Louisville, KY) in 1843, and in Boston in 1867.
