Obituary

MARLBOROUGH - Sister Pauline Roberts, a Sister of St. Anne, known in religion as Sister Mary Coletta, died at the age of 100 at Marie Esther Health Center in this city on December 30, 2010. She was in the 81st year of religious life.

She was the daughter of the late Alfred and Marie-Louise (Gagne) Roberts of West Springfield,MA. Sister completed her elementary education in that city and obtained her high school diploma from St. Anne Academy, Marlborough. She received a B. Ed. from Institut Pedagogique de Montreal, QC, and a B.A. degree from Anna Maria College, Paxton, MA. She also graduated from Famous Artists School of Westport, CT. Sister Pauline entered the Novitiate of the Sisters of St. Anne in Lachine, Quebec, and pronounced her vows in 1929. Sister taught for nine years in schools of the Montreal Catholic School Commission. In 1938 she returned to the States and continued her teaching career in the parochial schools in Marlborough, Worcester, Newton, Turners Falls and Holyoke, MA.
Later on she served as Librarian and Art Teacher. Sister did social work in Easthampton, MA, and served as a parish secretary at St Polycarp Parish in Somerville, MA. Sister then transferred to St. Anne Convent where her ministry was prayer and presence. Besides her Sisters in community, sister is survived by two nephews. Paul Guillotte of Agawam, Donald Roberts of Plymouth, and two nieces Mary Roberts of West Springfield, and Audrey Roberts of Worcester, and several close cousins.

The wake will be at St. Anne Convent , 720 Boston Post Road East, Marlborough on Wednesday, January 5, from 2 to 4 p.m. with a prayer service at 4 p.m. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m., on Thursday, January 6, in the Convent Chapel with burial in St. Mary Cemetery, Marlborough.
