Marlborough: Sister Jeannette Noiseux, (Sr. Marie Thaddee), a Sister of St. Anne, died in her 95 th year and in her 65 th year of vowed religious life. At Marie Esther Health Center in this city on Sunday, May 17, 2015 .
She was the oldest of five daughters born to Alphonse and Blanche (Barree) Noiseux of Holyoke, MA. She completed her education at the former Precious Blood School in that city.
In 1948, she joined the Sisters of St. Anne in Lachine, Quebec, Canada and professed vows in 1950. Her first assignments were in Quebec where she served as head cook in the community's boarding schools located in Lachine, Saint Genevieve and Dorval. She returned to the United States in 1954. Her main assignments were as chef and food manager, especially at the former St. Anne Academy, Marlborough, except for a few years when she served in Webster and Holyoke, MA.
In later years, she also spent 10 years as an aide in St. Anne Convent Infirmary, Marlborough. She "retired'' in 1993 but continued to do community service until she was admitted to Marie Esther Health Center. Several years ago, she was featured in a Metro West interview and was dubbed "Sister Sox" a name that captured her life-long interest and loyalty to the Boston Red Sox. Her interests, even at 95, continued to be many, all inclusive and extensive and each received her daily prayer and concern.
Sister Jeannette is mourned and will be held in fond memory by her friends, by the Sisters of St. Anne, by her sister, Mrs. Laurette Morton and her dear nieces and nephews.
She will be waked at St. Anne Convent, 720 Boston Post Road, Marlboro, on Tuesday, May 19, from 2 to 4 p.m. followed by a prayer service. The funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 20 at 10:00 am in the convent chapel with burial in Saint Mary's Cemetery, Marlboro. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Sullivan, Fitzgerald & Collins Funeral Home,378 Lincoln Street, Marlborough. Donations, in her memory, may be made to the Sisters of St. Anne or to a charity of your choice.
