MARLBOROUGH – Sr. Irene Hemond, (M. Irene-du-Precieux-Sang), a Sister of St. Anne, died at 95 yrs. old at Marie Esther Health Center, 720 Boston Post Road East. She was in the 71st year of religious life. She was the daughter of Joseph and Celanire (Desalliers) Hemond of Pawtucket, RI. She completed her primary and secondary education in Central Falls, Rhode Island. Sister Irene was a qualified Montessori teacher. She entered the Novitiate of the Sisters of St. Anne in 1934 and pronounced her religious vows in 1936. She taught for 53 years in schools staffed by the Congregation in Ludlow, North Adams, Newton, MA, Central Falls, RI and Saint Anne Montessori School in Marlborough, MA, where she taught for 30 years. When Sister retired from teaching, she continued to render Community services for many years. Sister is survived by several nieces and nephews. She will be waked at St. Anne Convent, 720 Boston Post Road East, Marlborough, MA on Monday, March 19, from 2 to 4:30 p.m. with a prayer service at 4:30 p.m. The funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 20, at 10 a.m. in the Convent Chapel with burial in St. Mary's Cemetery in this city. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Fitzgerald & Collins Funeral Home (www.SFCFH.com), 378 Lincoln Street, Marlborough.
