MARLBOROUGH- Sister Eva Genereux, a Sister of St. Anne, known in religion as Sister Mary Roseline, died at the age of 82, at Marie Esther Health Center in Marlborough, on Friday, November 17, 2006. She was in the 61st year of religious life. She was the daughter of late Ovila and Rose Anna (Beaudoin) Genereux of Central Falls, Rhode Island. She completed her elementary education at Notre Dame School in this city and followed high school courses both at Notre Dame High School in Central Falls and Saint Anne Academy in Marlborough, where she obtained her diploma. Sister also held B.S. and B.A. degrees in Education from Anna Maria College, Paxton, MA; and an M.A. degree in Theology from St. John University, Bayside, New York. Sister Eva entered the Novitiate of the Sisters of St. Anne in 1943. After pronouncing her religious vows in 1945, Sister remained in Quebec, Canada, where she taught in schools belonging to the Montreal Catholic School Commission. Thirty-two years, however, were spent in Kahnawake, Mohawk Indian Reservation, as teacher at the Indian Day School and as pastoral associate in St. Francis Xavier parish, on that Reservation. After retiring from active ministry, she continued rendering innumerable community services in schools and convents staffed by the Congregation. She returned to the United States in August of 2000, and, because of ill health was admitted to Marie Esther Health Center in Marlborough. She is survived by her sister, Mrs. Doris Metilly and husband Paul of New Port Richey, Florida; and by her sister-in-law, Mrs. Ruth Genereux, Cumberland, RI. She also leaves numerous nephews and nieces. The wake will take place at St. Anne Convent, 720 Boston Post Road East, Marlborough, on Monday, November 20, 2006, from 2 to 4:30 p.m., with a prayer service at 4:30 p.m. The funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, November 21st at 10:00 a.m. in the Convent chapel with burial in Saint Mary Cemetery, Marlborough. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Fitzgerald & Collins Funeral Home (www.SFCFH.com), 378 Lincoln Street, Marlborough. A memorial contribution may be made to Sisters of St. Anne Retirement Fund or to a charity of your choice.
