Sister Doris Dumas, a Sister of St. Anne, died at Marie Esther Health Center in this city on Thursday, October 22, 2015.  Known in religion as Sister Marie Therese Bernadette, she was 90 years old and recently celebrated the 70th anniversary of her vowed religious life.

She was the second of eight children born to Theodore and Eva (Brault) Dumas of Worcester.   Following High School, she joined the Sisters of St. Anne in Lachine, Quebec, pronounced vows and was assigned to their St. Joseph Province in British Columbia.  She earned her BA degree from Gonzaga University and several additional certifications in Business studies.

For 60 years, she taught in schools, was a bookkeeper and finance officer in offices related to the Sister of St. Anne ministries in British Columbia and in Alaska.  In 2003, Sister Doris returned to Massachusetts and was assigned to St. Anne Convent in Marlborough.  During these years, she worked as a medical supply purchaser for the Marie Esther Health Center, and as a driver for the convent.  Sister Doris never overlooked visits to the sick, the handicapped and the lonely.

Sister Doris was predeceased by her parents and two brothers, Donald and Robert.  In addition to the Sisters of St. Anne, who grieve her death, she is survived by her siblings: Muriel Dunford, Anita Burque,   Jeanne (Joan) (Mrs. Donald) Gervais, Gloria Kaczynski, Dolores Dumas, many nieces and nephews and their families.

She will be waked at St. Anne Convent, 720 Boston Post Road, Marlboro, on Sunday, October 25 from 2-4pm. followed by a prayer service.  The funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, October 26, at 10:00 am in the convent chapel with burial in Evergreen Cemetery, Marlboro.  Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Fitzgerald & Collins Funeral Home (www.CollinsFuneral.com), 378 Lincoln Street, Marlborough.  Donations, in her memory, may be made to the Sisters of St. Anne or to a charity of your choice.
