Sister Florence Euphrasia Chiriani died on April 17, 2016 at Marie Esther Health Care Center, Marlboro, MA after a long illness.  She was 97 years of age and had been a Contemplative Sister of the Good Shepherd for 76 years.

Sister Florence was born in 1917 in Brooklyn, NY, the daughter of Antonio and Maria Chiriani.  She attended St. Philomena's High School in Brooklyn, NY.

In 1940, Sister Florence entered the Contemplative Sisters of the Good Shepherd in Brooklyn, NY and was a member of the Brooklyn community for many years.  When the community transferred to a new facility in Dix Hills, NY in 1963 Sister continued her Contemplative life of prayer and service at Madonna Heights there in Dix Hills.  Sister Florence generously gave of her skill and talent in the baking and distribution of altar breads and in the sewing department.  Sister was a member of the Brooklyn and Dix Hills community for over 60 years. Due to failing health, Sister Florence was missioned to Good Shepherd Center in Marlborough, MA in 2001.  Sister Florence was dearly loved by her sisters and the staff at Good Shepherd Center and will be greatly missed.

Sister Florence is predeceased by 11 siblings.  She is survived by many loving nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.  Visiting hours will be at Good Shepherd Center, 406 Hemenway Street, Marlborough, MA on Friday, April 22, 2016 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered for Sister at Good Shepherd Center on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at 11:00 a.m.   Burial will follow at Mt. Benedict Cemetery in West Roxbury, MA.

The Sisters of the Good Shepherd were founded by St. Mary Euphrasia Pelletier in Angers, France in 1835, in the United States (Louisville, KY) in 1843, and in Boston in 1867.
