MARLBOROUGH--Sister Doris Benoit a Sister of St. Anne, known in religion as Sister Marie Jeanne Lucie died at the age of 87 at Marie Esther Health Center in this city on November 6. She was in the 68th year of religious life. She was the daughter of Oscar and Blanche (Guertin) Benoit of Worcester, MA. She attended Saint Joseph Elementary School, Worcester, MA, St. Anne Academy, Marlborough, MA, and Anna Maria College, Paxton, MA. In 1935, she entered the novitiate of the Sisters of Saint Anne in Lachine, Quebec, and pronounced her religious vows in 1938. She began her teaching career in Kahnawake, QC and Holy Family in Montreal, before returning to the United States in 1945. Her career in education brought her to numerous schools staffed by the Congregation in Massachusetts. These were St. Anne Academy, Marlborough; Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, Ware; St. Jean-Baptiste, Lynn; Holy Family, Greylock; St. John the Evangelist, Newton; Holy Name of Jesus and St. Joseph, Worcester. She also taught at St. James School, Manville, RI. After retiring from teaching she transferred to St. Anne Convent in Marlborough, where she performed community services. Sister is survived by two sisters, Pauline Parzych of Worcester and Jeanne Benoit of St. Laurent, Quebec, and a sister-in-law Lucille Benoit of Boucherville, Quebec, and several nieces & nephews. She will be waked at St. Anne Convent, 720 Boston Post Road East, Marlborough on Wednesday, November 8, 2006, from 2 to 4:30 p.m., with a prayer service at 4:30 p.m. The funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, November 9, 2006 at 10 a.m., in the Convent chapel with burial in Saint Mary's Cemetery, Marlborough.
