FRAMINGHAM - Simonides C. DeFreitas, 59, of Framingham died suddenly Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at MetroWest Medical Center. He was born and raised in Anapolis, Goias, Brazil, the son of Maria Luzia Cabral DeFreitas and the late Romualdo C. DeFreitas, and had lived in Massachusetts for almost 20 years. Prior to moving here he was the former president of Associacao Atletica Anapolina, a professional soccer club, for over 25 years. He was a natural artist who enjoyed painting and wood carving. Devoted to his family and his church, a member of St. Tarcisius, and a soccer fanatic, he devoted most of his life's work to the sport, of which he was president of his favorite team, Associacao Atletica Anapolina (AAA).  He leaves a legacy of honestly, generosity and love of family, the greatest gift he left to his children. He was the father of three sons, Romualdo C. De Freitas and Simonides C. De Freitas, Jr., both of Framingham, Carlos E. De Freitas of Revere, and a sister, Suelly De Freitas Mello of Framingham; and three grandchildren, Mattheus, Lucas and Isabella.  He was the brother of the late Marinho and Jose, and was the former husband of Isabel M. Carlos De Freitas of Marlborough.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday, March 23 at 10:00 a.m., at St. Tarcisius Church, 562 Waverly Street, Framingham. Burial will be in Goias, Brazil.
