Marlborough, MA- Sandra A. Decker, 49, of Marlborough died Monday February 10, 2014 at University of Michigan Health System Hospital after a brief Illness. She was the spouse of Rosanne (Rose) Eastman for the past seven years and they were together since 1991. She was born in Troy, NY the daughter of the late John L. and Marie P. (Mittlestead) Decker. Sandy moved to Massachusetts in 1975, graduated from Shrewsbury High School in 1982 and received a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from Worcester State College where she was the captain of the fie ld hockey team. Sandy started her career with Shipley as a Credit Collections Specialist in June 2001. Over the next decade, she held various positions in Finance and Accounts Receivable. Her most recent position was in the Environmental Health and Safety Sustainability department as a Product Stewardship Specialist for Haas-Dow Companies.
She previously worked in credit and collections departments for Dow, Rohm & Haas, DecisionOne, Sybase Inc., Adesa Auctions, Budget Rent-A-Car and Ziff Company. While at Dow, Sandy was Co-Leader of Women's Innovation Network, the Dow Site Community Services/Fundraiser Leader responsible for charitable events that included: Bake for Hope bake sale to benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Christmas bake sale to benefit Marlborough Community Services, Marlborough Community Services Food Drive, Back Pack Drive for Marlborough Community Services, Snowflake Holiday Helpers program – gift program for disadvantaged children in Marlborough schools and the Earth Day clean-up program. Sandy will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, beautiful smile, many random acts of kindness and her tireless efforts to help others. Sandy was humble, never needing or wanting recognition for her charitable efforts - a true sign of how much she enjoyed helping others and that it was truly about them. Sandy was compassionate, easy going, fun to be with and just enjoyed life. Besides her spouse Rose she leaves two brothers, Thomas Decker and his wife Kathleen of St. Johnsbury, VT and David Decker of South Deerfield; her sister Patricia Decker-McKeon of Shrewsbury; several nieces and nephews, a great-nephew and 2 great-nieces; her beloved German Shepherds, Tucker and Kaia; and many close friends.
A Celebration of her Life will be held Sunday February 16 at 7:00 p.m. in the Fitzgerald & Collins Funeral Home ( www.CollinsFuneral.com ), 378 Lincoln Street, Marlborough. Calling hours will be held Sunday prior to the service from 3-7 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Susan G. Komen Foundation ( www.ww5.komen.org ), Appalachian Mountain Club ( www.outdoors.com ) or German Shepherd Rescue of New England ( www.gsrne.org ).
