Obituary

CHANDLER, Ariz. Ruth M. (Dickie) Turner, 78, of Chandler, Ariz., died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2008, after a long illness. She was the wife of the late John F. Turner Sr., who died in 1993. Born in Marlborough, the daughter of the late David C. and Beatrice (Yeo) Dickie, Ruth was a 1947 graduate of Marlborough High School. She leaves a daughter, Carol J. Turner, and her husband, Shawn Davidson, of Phoenix; two grandchildren, KJ Davidson-Turner and Cal Davidson-Turner, both of Phoenix. She was the mother of the late John F. Jay Turner Jr., formerly of Hoffman Estates, Ill., and the late Karen M. Turner, formerly of Hudson. She was an avid reader and Red Sox fan who was devoted to her grandchildren. Her granddaughter recently said Nana is the best grandmother in the world. She just got in her car and drove across the country to live near us. Ruth also enjoyed national politics and will be remembered by all as a spirited debater. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2008, at 1 p.m., at St. Marks Episcopal Church, Main Street, Southborough. Father Craig Lister will officiate. Burial will follow in Forestvale Cemetery, Hudson. Calling hours are Monday, Jan. 28, from 5 to 7 p.m., at the Fitzgerald & Collins Funeral Home (www.SFCFH.com), 378 Lincoln St., Marlborough. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
