MARLBOROUGH - Ronald R. Martel, 55, of Marlborough, died at home Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2008. Born and raised in Marlborough, the son of the late Robert and Barbara (Billings) Martel, he was a graduate of Marlborough High School and was a delivery driver for ABC Courier for several years. A member of Marlborough Fish and Game Club and a past president of Marlborough Eagles Post 3565, Ronnie was an avid mixed martial arts fan and a Red Sox and Patriots fan. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and playing softball, and was a skeet shooting champion. For many years, Ronnie was an announcer for the Marlborough Shamrocks.
He leaves an uncle, Normand Martel of Marlborough; two aunts, Estelle Sargent of Northborough and Dorothy Naventi of Lee; many cousins, including Philip Martel of Shrewsbury; his close friends, Rick Russell and Michele Papulis of Marlborough; and his girlfriend, Gina Leduc of Marlborough.
A funeral service will be held Monday, Sept. 22, at 11 a.m., at Fitzgerald & Collins Funeral Home (www.SFCFH.com), 378 Lincoln St., Marlborough. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Marlborough. Calling hours are Sunday, Sept. 21, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the funeral home.
