Roland "Sonny" Gerard Rousseau, 79, of Albany, NY passed away on Sunday, April 7, 2013 at St. Peter's Hospital.

Sonny was born May 2, 1933 in Waltham, Massachusetts to Joseph and Theresa (Richard) Rousseau.  He graduated from St. Charles High School in 1950.  He later studied at Saint Francis Seraphic Seminary and Mount Alvernia Seminary.  Sonny served as a Franciscan Priest (Hubert Rousseau, OFM) until 1971.  In 1972 he married Marie Avitto of Catskill, NY.   He was born in Waltham the son of the late Joseph R. and Theresa (Richard) Rousseau. He taught math and French at Christopher Columbus High School in the North End during the 1960's and coached baseball.  Sonny also worked at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (Troy, NY) as a computer consultant. He was an avid Red Sox fan who loved horses and even raised Arabians at one time.

Sonny became a resident at The Teresian House in 1999, where he enjoyed participating in many activities, especially hosting karaoke.  He loved to tease his nurses and was proud to be able to participate in weekly masses.

Sonny is survived by his wife Marie of 40 years; his two sons, Joseph and his wife, Jennifer of Garnerville, NY, and Vincent (VJ) and his wife, Linda of Virginia Beach, VA; three grandchildren.  His brother, Richard F. of Virginia, four sisters Leona and Peter Dolloff of Hudson NH, Eva and Henry Walsh of Sandwich, MA,  Janice and the late Thomas Byrne of Hudson MA, Frances and Edward Minderlein of Old Orchard Beach ME.   He was loved by many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews.

A memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 20 at The Teresian House, 200 Washington Avenue Extension, Albany, New York 12203.  For those who wish, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Teresian House Foundation in Sonny's memory.
