MARLBOROUGH - Robert "Bobby" A. Peltak, 65, of Marlborough died Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2012 at his home, surrounded by those he loved. He was the husband of Donna M. (Marlowe) Peltak for the past 26 years. Born in Marlborough, he was the son of the late Anthony and Yvette (Lesieur) Peltak.  Bobby who was affectionately known as "Pecker"  (the original Pecker) was a  1966 graduate of Marlborough High School where he was President of the Athletic Association, Member of the Student Council and he played football and baseball.  He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, serving two tours overseas as a helicopter door gunner, receiving the National Defense Service Award, Vietnam Service Medal with 4 Bronze Service Stars, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Bronze Star Medal with Valor and the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry. Bobby was a painter for Hanson Painting in Southborough for many years and he worked in the maintenance department of the Marlborough Public School System for many years until retiring in 1996 due to illness. In the 70's he was an Agricultural Engineer where he cultivated ginger root on the big island of Hawaii. Bobby enjoyed golfing, Boston sports  and he was one of the original football players for the Marlborough Shamrocks.  Bobby found peace and solace when going to the ocean with Donna, they spent many summers  vacationing  in Hampton Beach and the past nine years with his family at their home in Old Orchard Beach, Maine.  He volunteered for numerous organizations, including the Veterans Outreach Group and the ARC. He would drive veterans to medical appointments throughout the state of Massachusetts. Bobby was the type of man who would not say no to someone in need, he had a huge heart and was especially active in programs that affected veterans. He was caring, generous, kind and was devoted to his wife, Donna, their daughter, Marlowe and his beloved Granddaughter Olivia. Besides his wife, Donna, he leaves his daughter, Marlowe A. Peltak, and her fiancé, Derek Lyons of Marlborough; four brothers and their spouses,  Deacon Douglas and Jean Peltak,  Donald and Terry Peltak, Paul and Sheri  Peltak, Michael and Korina Peltak, all of Marlborough; two sisters and their spouses, Marcia and Ray  Robidoux of Worcester and Christine and Michael Birri of Northborough; his granddaughter, Olivia Marlowe Lyons of Marlborough; his nephews and nieces David, Lori, Shannon, Melissa, Joey, Jason, Leigh, Maegan, Rhiana, Lindsey, Natasha and Michala, as well as his great nephews and nieces Steven, Jacob, Elizabeth, Maddox,  Braden and Allie, and many cousins, including Roland and Jim Hamel. He also leaves his Mother-in-law, Ruth Marlowe and his sister-in-laws, Francine, Sheila and Paula Marlowe.  He was the brother of the late Jeanne DiLauro.

A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, Oct.11 at 11 a.m., at the Fitzgerald & Collins Funeral Home ( www.CollinsFuneral.com ), 378 Lincoln Street, Marlborough. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Wilson Street, Marlborough. Calling hours at the funeral home will be held Wednesday, Oct. 10 from 5 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers,  donations may be made in Bobby's memory to Home for Our Troops, 6 Main Street, Taunton, MA 02780 or Wounded Heroes of Maine, 53 Guinea Road, Biddeford, ME 04005.
