Marlborough- Robert C. McGovern, Sr. 57, of Marlborough died Saturday March 22, 2014 at Marlborough Hills Healthcare Center after a long illness. He was the longtime love of Brenda L. Beatty of Marlborough. He was born, raised and educated in Marlborough the son of Alice V. "Ginny" McGovern of Marlborough and the late Richard L. McGovern. He was a graduate of Marlborough High School and worked as a driver for several companies in the MetroWest area. He was an avid Boston sports fan and loved science fiction movies and novels. He leaves his son Robert C. "Bobby" McGovern, Jr. of Marlborough; two brothers Douglas M. McGovern of Marlborough and Richard L. McGovern and his wife Alice of Templeton; a sister Joanne McGovern of Clinton and three nephews.

Calling hours will be held Friday March 28 from 6-8 p.m. in the Fitzgerald & Collins Funeral Home ( www.CollinsFuneral.com ), 378 Lincoln Street. Following cremation private burial will be held at Maplewood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made at the funeral home to assist his family with funeral expenses.
