Marlborough- Robert B. Lazaros, Sr. 75 of Marlborough died Sunday July 11, 2010 at home while surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Barbara A. (Agnew) Lazaros for the last 53 years. He was born, raised and educated in Marlborough, the son of the late Charles J. Sr. and Mabel (Dion) Lazaros and was a graduate of Marlborough High School Class of 1953 and was a gifted baseball and hockey player, and played semi-professional hockey for the Marlborough Black Hawks. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War serving with the Strategic Air Command in Okinawa, Japan. Bob worked for the City of Marlborough for 43 years retiring in 1996 as Foreman of Forestry & Parks Department. He was member of the former St. Ann's Church, a board member of the Marlborough Recreation Commission, coached Marlborough Youth Hockey, was a avid Marlborough School Sports fan, never missing a game or event. Bob loved people and was known as the "Mayor" of Gulbankian Park. He loved tending to his yard and garden. He leaves three sons, Robert B. Lazaros, Jr. and his fiance Sandi of Marlborough, Charles J. Lazaros and his wife Sheri of Hudson and Gary A. Lazaros and his wife Julie of Hudson; a daughter Darcia "Cis" Constantine and her husband Dick of Hudson; a brother Donald Lazaros of Florida and a sister Lorraine DeFosse of Worcester; ten grandchildren, Rich, Mike, Kelly, Amy, Chuck, Gabrielle, Nicholas, Joey, Chris and Kailee; two great grandchildren Brenden and Avery; many nephews and nieces, and his faithful companion "Fuzzy". He was pre-deceased by his siblings, Charles, Edward, George, Stella, Eleanor, Alma and Barbara.
A funeral service will be held Thursday July 15, 2010 at 11:45 a.m. in the Lincoln Chapel of the Fitzgerald & Collins Funeral Home, 378 Lincoln Street, Marlborough. Burial with military honors will be held in Evergreen Cemetery, Wilson Street, Marlborough. Calling hours will be held Wednesday July 14 from 5-8 p.m. in the funeral home.
