IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Richard R.
Kelleher
April 30, 1937 – August 23, 2025
Marlborough – Richard "Dick" R. Kelleher, 88, of Marlborough, passed away on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at Clinton Hospital after a period of declining health. He was the beloved husband of the late Elizabeth A. (Izzo) Kelleher, who died in 2014.
Born, raised, and educated in Marlborough, Dick was the son of the late John and Lillian C. (Richer) Kelleher. He graduated from Marlborough High School with the Class of 1955 and went on to earn a Bachelor's degree in Marketing from Northeastern University.
Dick began his sales career in 1959 with Controller Service & Sales, Inc. in Boston, where he remained for 45 years until his retirement in 2004. Known for his loyalty, outgoing personality, and deep devotion to family, Dick had a remarkable gift for connecting with people. Whether it was a waitress he had just met or a lifelong friend, he was always ready to lend advice, counsel, and encouragement. With his generous heart, he touched countless lives, and his family and community were always at the center of everything he did.
A true servant of his community, Dick volunteered with Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, served as Executive Director of the Boys Club, and was instrumental in founding the United Way of Marlborough, where he proudly served as its first President. He was also a former President of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, a lifetime member of Marlborough Country Club and two-time club champion, a devoted parishioner of Immaculate Conception Church, and a member of the Hudson Elks. Above all, he was immensely proud of both his Irish and French Canadian heritage and carried it proudly throughout his life.
Dick leaves behind two daughters, Diane M. Taralli of Marlborough, and Maureen E. Laramie and her husband Jean Paul of Auburn; four sisters, Elaine Hinckley of Prescott Valley, AZ, Eleanor Silva of Pocasset, Anne Hart of Marlborough, and Mary DiRienzo (Gerry) of Marlborough; his brother-in-law Mark Downs of Falmouth, sister-in-law Patricia Kelleher of Marlborough; three cherished grandchildren, Olivia Taralli and her fiancé Joseph Dugas of Marlborough, Adam Laramie and Elyse Laramie of Auburn; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his siblings John Kelleher, Jr., Paul Kelleher, Terese Rader, and Kathleen Downs.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the Granger 2 staff at Marlborough Hospital for the compassionate care they provided to Dick. They would also like to offer a special thank you to the incredible nurses at Clinton Hospital's Geriatric Unit, as well as, Karen Oberg and Kristen Mikkelsen—for the extraordinary care and kindness they showed. Kristen, in particular, is truly an angel on earth.
