Obituary

Richard A. Horning, 58, formerly of Marlborough died Monday May 27, 2024.

He was born in Natick, the son of the late John Horning and Marjorie (Sjulander) Horning Smith and was raised and educated in Marlborough. His diverse skills as a painter and carpenter speak to his versatility and creativity, while his warmth and humor undoubtedly made him beloved by many. His love for nature, from fishing to gardening, shows a deep connection to the outdoors, and his fondness for dogs adds a touch of compassion and loyalty. He left behind a legacy of kindness and joy, remembered fondly by those whose lives he touched.

He leaves two sons, Joshua Horning and his girlfriend Shaunna Sanders of Clinton and Miles Horning of Worcester; a daughter Sophia Horning and her boyfriend Josh Correa of Hudson; a grandson Josiah Correa of Hudson, that Richard loved so much; two brothers, Michael Horning of Marlborough and Walter Horning of California; two sisters, Melinda Jurgelewicz of Gardner and Monica Smith of Canada; many nephews and nieces and cousins. He was predeceased by his sister Deb Wheeler who died in 2022.

A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday June 23 from 12-3 PM at the Hudson Elks Lodge, 99 Park Street, Hudson. There are no calling hours. All are invited to share their memories and sign Richard's online guestbook at collinsfuneral.com. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Collins Funeral Home, 378 Lincoln Street, Marlborough.
