MARLBOROUGH- Raymond R. Peters, Jr., 73 of Marlborough died peacefully while surrounded by his family on Friday April 28, 2006 in MetroWest Medical Center, Framingham after a long illness. He was the husband of Jean R. (Bowser) Peters for the last 47 years. He leaves two sons, Michael R. Peters and his wife Joan of Franklin and Dean W. Peters and his wife Liz of Worcester; a daughter, Susan J. Pressman and her husband Neal of Marlborough; two brothers, William Peters of Marlborough and Alan Peters of Southborough; two sisters, Arlene Johnson and Katherine DeShaw both of Cape Cod; four grandchildren, Elizabeth Sauer of Marlborough, Breen Peters of Worcester, Sean and Ryan Peters both of Franklin; many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by two brothers, Michael and Ronald Peters both of Southborough. He was born in Uxbridge, the son of the late Raymond R. and Gertrude (Sacco) Peters and was raised in Medway and Southborough before moving to Marlborough in 1960. He was educated in Medway and Southborough and was a US Navy Veteran of the Korean Conflict having served aboard the USS Pocono as a Radio Operator. He was a General Contractor for over 30 years and previously worked as a milkman for Twin Maple Farms in Saxonville as well as having worked at General Motors in Framingham for several years. He also was a licensed Real Estate Agent with Dora Naves. & Associates. He was a former member of the Marlborough Jaycees, Marlborough Lions Club and member of the Marlborough Country Club, ITAM and Fayville Athletic Association. He was a member of the Board of Directors for the Girls Club, Marlborough Planning Board and Trustee for the Marlborough Public Library. He was an avid golfer and cribbage player who enjoyed reading, cooking, fishing and bowling. He will be remembered by his family and friends as an honest, generous and loving man with a quick wit and wonderful sense of humor. He was affectionately known as "Grampy Ray" by his grandchildren. A funeral with Military Honors will be held Tuesday May 2, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. in the Lincoln Chapel of the Fitzgerald & Collins Funeral Home (www.SFCFH.com), 378 Lincoln Street, Marlborough. Burial will be private in Rural Cemetery, Southborough. Calling hours will be held Monday May 1, 2006 from 5-8 p.m. in the Fitzgerald & Collins Funeral Home, 378 Lincoln Street. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Marlborough Public Library, 35 West Main Street, Marlborough, MA 01752.
