MARLBOROUGH- Rachel "Rae" (Girard) Mitchell, 82, of North Eastham and formerly of Marlborough died Friday April 10, 2009 in St. Vincent Hospital, Worcester. She was the wife of the late John F. Mitchell who died in 2000. She was born in Lawrence, the daughter of the late Andre and Renee (Marsan) Girard and was educated in Methuen. Rae was a librarian at the former J.J. Mitchell School and later worked as a bookkeeper at Hudson Lock for many years. She enjoyed theorem painting, creating stained glass, gardening, the beach and clam digging. But most of all she enjoyed spending time with her beloved grandchildren

She leaves two sons, John F. "Jack" Mitchell and his wife Karen of Sterling and James G. "Jim" Mitchell and his wife Diane of Sherman Oaks, CA; two brothers, Raymond Girard of Brewster and Albert Girard of Windham, NH; a sister Jeanne Godsey of Diamond Head, Mississippi; three grandsons, three granddaughters, many nephews, nieces and cousins. She was the sister of the late Andrew Girard of York, Maine and Yvonne Parker of Methuen.

The funeral will be held Friday April 17th at 8:00 a.m. from the Fitzgerald & Collins Funeral Home (www.SFCFH.com), 378 Lincoln Street, with a Mass at 9:00 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, Prospect Street. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Wilson Street. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Rae's name to the North Eastham Fire Department, 2520 State Highway, Eastham, MA 02642-2544.
