IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Philip
Serrentino
May 24, 1942 – October 18, 2024
Hudson-Philip Serrentino, Sr., of Hudson and formerly of Waltham, died Friday October 18, 2024 at Marlborough Hospital while surrounded by his family. He was the husband of the late Catherine (Viscuso) Serrentino who died on April 29, 2023.
Philip was born and raised in Pachino, Italy and was the son of the late Vincent and Carmela (Amara) Serrentino. When Philip was a young boy he moved to Venezuela to work for many years until he one day moved to the United States which is where he met his wife of almost 60 years.
Philip worked in the Union for many years until he started his own business PAK Construction in Waltham until he retired. He was very proud to be a mason and worked hard his whole life for his family. His masonry talents showed in his children's homes later on in life. He was always helping his children with projects at their homes, as he was a jack of all trades.
Philip as most knew him as "Papa" was a longtime Red Sox fan. Papa had many passions; he loved to go deep sea fishing when his kids were younger, loved to talk about cars, dance and trips to the Casino. Family was everything to him. Every Sunday was pasta dinner where the whole family would gather, a tradition that will carry on forever. Papa loved to tell stories and make all his grandchildren, friends and family laugh. He always had a stack of dollar bills so he could give all the kids a buck.
In memory, he'll be celebrated not just for his accomplishments, but for the love he gave to his family and friends. Philip "Papa" will be remembered as a loving father, a doting grandfather and great grandfather and a great storyteller who knew how to make everyone laugh. His legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew him, the stories he shared, and the lessons he imparted.
He leaves his son Philip Serrentino Jr. and his wife Paula of Hudson; 2 daughters, Carmela McDowell of Hudson and Marianne Barese and her husband Al of Hudson. He also leaves 9 grandchildren, Elizabeth Camara, Michelle Schlesinger, Brandon McDowell, Johnathan McDowell, Stephanie Prescott, Michael McDowell, Thomas Fitzsimmons, Philip Fitzsimmons, Ryan Fitzsimmons; four great grandchildren Dominic & Christian Camara and Julian & Peyton Schlesinger and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brother Joseph Serrentino of New York.
Calling hours will be held from 11-1 on Sunday October 27 in the Collins Funeral Home, 378 Lincoln Street, Marlborough with a graveside service to follow at Forestvale Cemetery, Broad Street, Hudson. All are invited to sign Philip's online guestbook at collinsfuneral.com.
