Mashpee – Paul W. Sandborg passed away peacefully on June 27, 2008, after a long illness. He was the loving husband of Mildred (Anderson) Sandborg for 43 years until her death in 1981 and then to Janet (Crispin) Sandborg until her death last October. Paul was born in Dorchester on August 18, 1921, to Swedish immigrants, Wilhelm and Judith (Tholinson) Sandborg, and was raised in Dedham. He graduated from Boston Trade school in 1939 where he was recognized as "most punctual" and worked on the battleship Massachusetts at the Fore River Shipyard in Quincy. He met his wife, Mildred, at a Swedish Club dance and they were married on December 5, 1943. Paul joined the U S Army in 1943, serving in Europe in the 776th Anti Aircraft Battalion. After his service, he returned to Dedham where he built his home and raised a family. For many years, he operated his own plumbing business and later was joined in business by his brother, Chet. In 1957, he built a summer home for his family in Mashpee and retired there in 1980 after working as Dedham Plumbing Inspector for twenty-six years. He was an active member of the Riverdale Congregational Church in Dedham and a life member of Constellation Lodge AF&AM. In 1983, Paul and Janet were married and spent 24 wonderful retirement years between his beloved home in Mashpee on Ashumet Pond and the winter warmth of Naples, Florida. Paul was a loving family man with a wonderful sense of humor. He enjoyed golfing with his friends and water skiing, especially on his 75th birthday. Paul was proud of his Swedish heritage and its traditions. He loved working on his home and helping friends and family with projects. Sandborg (Nova) of Nashua, NH, STS SN Daniel Sandborg of Groton, CT, Jason Sandborg (Brandy) of Hull, and Kurt J. Ferreira of Boxborough.
