Marlborough- Paul V. Harrington, 88, of Marlborough died Friday April 15, 2016 at MetroWest Medical Center-Framingham after a brief illness. He was the husband of the Barbara J. (LaBrecque) Harrington for the past 65 years. He was born and raised in Hudson, the son of the late Andrew S. and Dorothy F. (Hammond) Harrington and graduated from Hudson High School in 1946. Paul was a US Navy veteran serving during World War II. He worked Plant Security for General Motors in Framingham for 30 years retiring in 1989. Following his retirement he worked for Shaw's Supermarket in Hudson and Sudbury for 20 years. He was member of Immaculate Conception Church, Knights of Columbus Council 81 and past Grand Knight, The Edward McSweeney Assembly serving as past Faithful Navigator, a life member and past commander of both the American Legion Post 100 in Hudson and Post 132 in Marlborough, and the American Legion Band. Paul volunteered at the Bedford VA, sang in the IC choir, was a Boy Scout Leader and Eagle Scout. He was also a member of the Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company. Paul was a kind, reserved, gentleman who was devoted to God, family and country and will be remembered as a man who spent his life helping others. Besides his wife Barbara, he leaves two sons, Peter T. Harrington of Shrewsbury and Francis J. Harrington of Millbury; a daughter Mary A. Teixeira of Worcester; six grandchildren, Angelica, Ashleigh, Amber, Paul Joseph, Jessica and Kimberley. He was the father of Paul G. Harrington of Marlborough who died at the age of five. He was pre-deceased by a brother David and sister Ida (Ferne) Halley.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday April 21 at 11:00 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, Prospect Street. Burial with military honors will follow in Brookside Cemetery, Stow. Calling hours will be held Wednesday April 20 from 5-8 p.m. in the Fitzgerald & Collins Funeral Home ( www.CollinsFuneral.com ), 378 Lincoln Street. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Paul's memory to the Bedford VA Hospital-Chaplin Services, c/o Fr.
