MARLBOROUGH and ROUBAIX, FRANCE - Patrick Meurisse, 53, of Marlborough and France. passed away Saturday, April 30, 2011 in Worcester. At the time of death Patrick was surrounded by his wife of 31 years, Dominique (Siron), their children, Julien of Marseille, France and Margaux of Montreal, his mother, Brigitte (Fretin) of France and his brother, Xavier. Patrick received his engineering degrees from the University of Reims and the University of Cnam, both in Reims, France. Patrick's career was filled with over 27 dedicated years to Essilor, which he joined in 1983, working with BBGR in Sezanne, France. In 1995, Patrick and his family moved to Thailand where he spent three years with HMC at EMTC. In 1999 they moved back to France where Patrick took on the position of Group Leader for DEI HMC in Dijon. In 2006, Patrick moved to the United States with his wife and daughter to work for the North America Operations (NAOps) group, and for five years, Patrick was a part of the NAOps Leadership Team, serving as the expert coating engineer, working out of Dudley.
Patrick enjoyed bicycling, reading French literature, sailing and spending time by the water with his family. A quiet person, happy and very optimistic, Patrick had a keen ability to see the positive side of a situation or a person. He was always quick to add a joke or a funny comment, relieving the stress, regardless of the situation. He was generous and patient; caring about people and not material possessions. Patrick's main concern was his family--he worked to ensure they were always well cared for and a priority in his life.
Patrick also leaves behind two sisters, Charlotte and Dorothee Meurisse and his mother-in-law, Michele Siron and her companion, Jacques Chassagne, all in France.
A time of visitation will be held Tuesday, May 3, from 6 to 9 p.m., with a memorial service at 7:30 p.m., at the Fitzgerald & Collins Funeral Home (www.CollinsFuneral.com), 378 Lincoln Street, Marlborough.
