MARLBOROUGH- Norman R. Maurice, 85, of Marlborough died Monday December 31, 2007 in Marlborough Hospital after a long illness. He was the husband of Bertha "Bea" (Nault) Maurice for the past 28 years. His first wife Phyllis (Dutton) Maurice died in 1978. He leaves two daughters Jean Scott, and her husband James, of Jupiter, FL and Michele Riddle of Marlborough; three grandchildren, Deborah Riddle of Marlborough, Kristin Riddle of Clinton and Brent Simkins of Florida; three great grandchildren, Samatha Knowles, Cody and Katlyn Miller all of Hudson. He was predeceased by three brothers, Henry, Charles and Albert Jr. Born and educated in Marlborough, the son of the late Albert J. and Rosealma (Scott) Maurice, and was a US Army veteran of World War II serving in Co B 244th Engineer Combat Battalion in the European Theater. He was a maintenance electrician for Bay State Abrasives in Westborough for 21 years retiring in 1986. Previously, he worked for Johnson Claflin Corp. of Marlborough for 22 years in the Maintenance Department, leaving as Foreman, and was a licensed electrician that operated his own business. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, the Marlborough Senior Center, the former Bay State Retirees Club in Westborough, and was an all around handyman who could repair anything. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday January 4, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, Prospect Street. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Beach Street. A calling hour will be held Friday morning from 8:30-9:30 a.m. in the Fitzgerald & Collins Funeral Home (www.SFCFH.com), 378 Lincoln Street, Marlborough. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.
