October 12, 1942 – February 27, 2025
Norman William "Bill" Bennett, 82, of Marlborough, MA, passed away on February 27, 2025, due to complications from Parkinson's disease. Bill was born on October 12, 1942, in Chelsea, MA, and went on to lead a life full of love, dedication, and a quiet strength that will never be forgotten. He graduated from Wentworth Institute and earned a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
Bill had a loving heart and a gentle spirit, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His warmth, humor, and zest for life were truly unmatched. Whether it was a conversation about his beloved baseball, playing games with family and friends, or enjoying a classic western film, Bill always brought a spark of joy to those around him. His passion for baseball was especially evident, as he could talk about the game for hours, and the gleam in his eye when the subject was mentioned was unmistakable.
Bill was a devoted husband to his wife, Sharon, and a cherished brother to his sister, Betty Anderson. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Patricia Bennett; stepdaughters Anna and Heather; and granddaughters Ella and Rowan. Bill was especially proud of his role as "Uncle Bill" to numerous nieces and nephews, including Robert, Joseph, Laurie and Cathy who will carry fond memories of him always. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Thelma, his brother, Robert, and his niece Dyanna.
A lover of animals, Bill had a unique way with them, as they were naturally drawn to his kind and gentle nature. His fondness for animals, along with his unwavering loyalty to family, left an indelible mark on everyone who crossed his path.
A celebration of Bill's life will be held Friday March 28 at 10 AM in Immaculate Conception Church, Prospect Street, Marlborough. His family invites all those whose lives were touched by Bill's presence to join in remembering and honoring the man who lived with such genuine love and generosity of spirit. Bill's memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to have shared a moment with him.
