Obituary

MARLBOROUGH - Myrna M. (Cartagena) Torres, 60, of Marlborough, formerly of Waltham, died at home Friday, Sept. 19, 2008, with her loving family by her side. She was the wife of Pedro L. Torres. She was born and educated in Villalba, Puerto Rico, the daughter of Georgina (Fernandez) Cartagena of San Juan, Puerto Rico and the late Sinforiano Cartagena.
Myrna was a member of St. Stephen's Church in Framingham and a former member of St. Mary's in Waltham, where she taught CCD and was quite active in church functions. She enjoyed gardening, arranging flowers, cooking for her family and friends and will be remembered for her love and devotion to her husband, Pedro, as well as to her children and cherished grandchildren. Myrna was a kind and giving person, always putting others before herself.
Besides her husband, she leaves a son, Pedro E. Torres, and his wife, Anamarie, of Puerto Rico, and two daughters, Glenda M. Marroquin, and her husband, Martin, , and Myrna G. Torres and her fiance, Carlos Rosa, all of Marlborough; two sisters, Haydee Cartagena and Miriam E. Cartagena, both of Puerto Rico; seven grandsons and two granddaughters; and many nephews, nieces and cousins. She was predeceased by two brothers, Hector E. and Jose R. Cartagena, both of Puerto Rico.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday, Sept. 23 at 10 a.m., at St. Stephen's Church, Concord Street, Framingham. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Wilson Street, Marlborough. Calling hours will be held Monday, Sept. 22, from 5 to 9 p.m., at Fitzgerald & Collins Funeral Home (www.SFCFH.com), 378 Lincoln St., Marlborough.
