MARLBOROUGH - Mary D. Foley, 86, of Marlborough, formerly of Marshfield, died Saturday, May 8, 2010 at Whittier Rehabilitation Hospital, Westborough after a long illness. Born and raised in Newton, she was the daughter of the late James and Rose (Enos) Foley and was a graduate of Newton High School in 1941. Miss Foley was an executive secretary for several local corporations, including Faulkner Hospital in Boston, from which she retired after 20 years of service. Previously she was a professional candid photographer of weddings for Bachrach Studios in Boston, known for its presidential portraits, and had photographed the John F. Kennedy and Jacqueline Bouvier wedding. She also worked for Arthur D. Little, Inc., an international management consulting firm in Boston. Mary was a devout Catholic with a deep faith that comforted those close to her. In retirement she worked for Adoptions with Love for several years. She was a generous woman who gave so much to those less fortunate. She enjoyed music and dance, world traveling especially to Europe, and pastel and pencil drawing. Mary was a pair's figure skater and appeared in shows with the Boston Skating Club. She leaves two sisters, Nancy J. Frechette of Pembroke and Claire T. Pinzone of Waltham; 14 nephews and nieces; and was godmother to Bernard Frechette, Susan Foley and Joseph Pinzone. She was the sister of the late James Foley, Jr. of Newton and Edwin Foley of Watertown.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday May 12, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at the Good Shepherd Center Chapel, 400 Hemenway Street, Marlborough. A time of visitation will be held in the Chapel prior to the service from 12:00 p.m.to1:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Wilson Street, Marlborough. Instead of flowers, donations may be made to the Eternal Word Television Network, 5817 Old Leeds Road, Irondale, AL 35210.
